Our Ministry

Our ministry has four distinct aspects that we try and focus on; education, nutrition, housing, and the love of Jesus.
We engage two groups within the community during two Saturday outreach programs. We have kids under 13 in the morning and teens 13 and older in the evening. At each program, the kids receive a meal to fill their bellies and life encouragement about Jesus to fill their soul.
Most of the families in the community do not have enough money to feed themselves, so education becomes secondary to food. As a result we have a scholarship program where we seek sponsors from the United States to send children to school. We also have a daily homework help time during the week where any student can receive help with their homework or get additional schools supplies needed to complete homework successfully.
We support a few families in the community who need survival food provisions.
We have also partnered with a church in Antigua for housing projects. As a community liaison, Nolo coordinates with this church to help the families have a higher quality home. Like a “house” that has a roof that doesn’t leak on their bed.

Where I Serve

Nolo and I serve in a little neighborhood community called La BendiciĆ³n or The Blessing. It is located in the town of San Pedro las Huertas, which is located just outside of Antigua Guatemala. The Blessing is composed of about 100 dwelling units crammed into 3 acres. Most houses have dirt floors and are constructed entirely with “lamina” – tin roofing and cornstalks. There is some electricity in The Blessing, but no running water, no sewage nor adequate drainage.

How We Make Disciples

Nolo and I live within walking distance of our community. We see the people from our community on a daily basis, whether it be at soccer games, our homework time, house visits or them coming over for a meal.
Making disciples for us starts with living a Godly life with people. Meeting their needs for shelter, food, clothing, and social interaction. Investing in them to better their future.
We teach the kids about Jesus in our Saturday programs, but we also feed them when they are hungry. We take them to the doctor when they are sick. We hold their hands when a loved one has passed away. We walk with them as they face day to day hardships. And we try to love them with the unconditional love of Jesus, praying with them and over them every chance we get.
